Who will win The Block 2023
by Greville Pabst

Last week, I had an interview with Property Journalist Lisa Calautti, about who I think will win and my thoughts on the best house from this years series of The Block in Hampton East

From a real estate and marketing perspective, there were two homes that stood out from the rest, which could easily interchange with the other. The first that stands out is House 2 and that really stands out because of its street presence and its architectural form is really appealing from the street and it’s got a little bit of quirkiness to it.

But it is Steph and Gian’s house, partly due to it being the largest house which will likely attract investors, as well as its clever floorplan and high quality finishes that I believe will win.

Having purchased 6 Block houses over the last 10 years including buying for comedian Dave Hughes in the Elsternwick series, this year, my business commitments have kept me away from the current season.

In my experience, each year The Block usually brings out two types of buyers. Those who love to be seen on television and relish the attention, media scrutiny, cameras, microphones and lighting and secondly the buyer who values privacy and anonymity due to their profession or personality. There are some good tax outcomes available for investors with generous tax depreciation on the newly built homes and of course I expect a family buyer will play a part this year.

The Block auctions will be held this Saturday when all 5 houses go under the hammer before airing on national television on Sunday night.
