As you may be aware, as of today 2nd March 2020, there have been new legislation passed in regards to tenants keeping pets at properties.
Tenants must now request their landlord’s consent to bring a new pet into the property and under the new legislation, Landlords may not unreasonably refuse a pet.
These laws do not apply to pets already present before 2 March 2020. Before this date, there were no laws directly covering pets in rented homes.
You can find more information on the legislation here.
Please rest assure that we will continue to manage your property with care & ensure you’re notified if your tenant does wish to bring a bet into their home via the permission form generated by Consumer Affairs.
Please contact our property management team should you have any questions or queries at all.
