Formerly a sign of a neighborhood situated on the wrong side of the tracks, street art has taken on a property-profit-bearing persona in recent years. With the right lashings of paint by a trendy artist, the sidewall of a suburban home can be transformed into a masterpiece in and of itself. Street art has proved to be a uniting force in many neighborhoods by bring residents together around a common interest. This increase in a sense of community and incoming foot traffic has driven up real estate values in certain neighborhoods blessed with street art.
Though, crude graffiti won’t suffice in generating interest from discerning prospective property buyers. Murals with a cultural perspective are what boost real estate prices in ways that perfectly manicured lawns can’t. Thoughtful street art has also been seen to deter crude taggings from vandals.
